Education Minister Peter Weir visits St. Joseph's

Education Minister, Peter Weir, visited St Joseph’s to view progress on the now  £2.124million School Improvement Project (SEP).

Our School was one of the first SEP projects announced by the previous Minister John O'Dowd and is seen as a successful example of the difference SEP projects are making to schools.  The new Minister wished to see this success and observe the transformation first hand.

Speaking during the visit, the Minister said:

“I have been very impressed with the progress on the new facilities at St Joseph’s Primary School. The £2.124million investment will benefit the entire school community now and for future generations.

“In addition to the improved provision for the school, such investment also provides a boost to the local construction industry.”

 Mr.McCann said:

“The SEP Programme addressed our immediate accommodation needs.  When the project is complete we will have a school which enables our pupils to learn in an environment fit for purpose. I believe SEP funding, particularly in the Primary sector will deliver the change needed to improve the school estate in a cost effective and efficient way.”

Mr Weir visited all the classes and engaged in activities with the pupils speaking to many of them and asking them how they felt about the new school buildings.
