P3 Big Schools' Bird Watch 2017

22nd Mar 2017

P3 have been caring for the birds in Winter. A new bird table has been erected outside our classroom. We put out bird cake, nuts, seeds, breadcrumbs and fresh water everyday. There is also a birdbath so the birds can clean and preen themselves each day. All of us take turns to watch from the classroom window.

What a lot of activity we see!! There are robins, blue tits, pied wagtails, sparrows, woodpigeons, coal tits, blackbirds and lots more. The birds are like acrobats clinging to the feeders. They also fight and squabble over the food!

Karen Sheil from the RSPB came to teach us more about birds and helped us to take part in the Big Schools' Birdwatch 2017.  We used binoculars to spot all the birds in our school grounds. We found out some interesting facts and have been awarded a certificate by the RSPB.
