Our last topic is all about learning how to enjoy and stay safe in or near water and at the beach. Ed from Meet The Lifeguards Roadshow came to visit us. He taught us about where to swim safely, the dangers of inflatables, how to identify beach safety flags/signs as well as telling us about the role of the lifeguards and their equipment.
The following week we visited Newcastle Lifeboat Station. We learned about the role of the volunteers, explored a real lifeboat and the inshore lifeboat and were reminded of how to stay safe at sea. We found out about what to do if we got in trouble or saw an emergency at sea.
