Carnacaville Achieve Their 3rd Green Flag
We are delighted to announce we have achieved our 3rd prestigious Green Flag by the environmental charity Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. The Eco-School's assessment team were particularly impressed with the many endeavours the Eco Council and Eco Volunteers took on. The children planted numerous trees to accompany their wildflower meadow and ran their own Swap Shop with the sole purpose of giving items a new home instead of landfill.
The internationally recognised Green Flag is this highest award given to Eco-Schools and symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity. The Eco-Committee led the whole school learning on our three topics of Biodiversity, Litter and Waste and Marine.
On Monday 12th June, two members of our Eco Council, Ada and Conor went to Downpatrick to the St Patrick Centre accompanied by Mr Mussen and Miss McConville to the Eco-School NI Green Flag Awards 2023.
We had a lovely morning joining the other local schools in the area for the awards. We listened to the achievements of each school and then enjoyed some lovely sandwiches and juice for lunch before heading back to school. The children had a great day. Thank you to Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful for the super day out.
