Carnacaville Cross Country Team Does Well.

11th Dec 2018

On Thursday 6th December the Carnacaville Cross Country Team set off for the N Ireland Athletics Cross Country meeting at Lisnagarvey High School in Lisburn.  John Leneghan (30th) and Phoebe Grainger (50th) got us off to a good start in the first race. In the Girls' race Niamh Lowry (30th)  had a very strong run to finish only 30 seconds off the podium. Natalie Cotton (48),  Ellena Gribben (55th) and Kaylee Toner (58th)  all finished in the top 60. Megan O'Boyle  and Matilda Harty battled hard to get home in less than eight minutes on a very wet muddy course. The girls finished a very respectable 11th overall and are aiming to get into the top ten later in the year.

Our little pocket rocket Quinn Devlin finished 11th only 17 seconds outside the top three. Not bad for a P6 competing against some very quick P7s. Quinn is one to watch for next year. Lewis McCrickard (14th) is shaping up to give his Dad Eamonn a run for his money. Lewis ran a great tactical race overtaking quite a few boys in the final rush for the tunnel. Next in for Carnacaville was Ben Murphy (30th) and Blake Killen (52). Two very respectable runs in such a large field. Oisin Murray  and Niall McCauley ran their socks off on what was a difficult course after all of the rain. The boys finished   6th overall and can be very pleased with that result. A good time was had by all and we are looking forward to the next cross country race early in the third term.
