Celebrating St Brigid's Day.
5th Feb 2020
During Catholic Schools Week we celebrated St.Brigid's Day. On Tuesday Brigid and Tom Hogan- grandparents of Ciaran Murray(P1) and Oisin Murray(P2) demonstrated how to make a St. Brigid's cross to our Reception, P1,P2,P3,P4 and P5 classes. We listened carefully and watched how Brigid folded the rushes to make the cross. Then some teachers and some P4/P5 pupils had a go. We also listened to a story about St.Brigid's cloak.
On Thursday Mrs Ursula Murphy (former St. Joseph's teacher) returned to lead a P6/P7 workshop. All the pupils in P6 and P7 made their own St Brigid's cross. It was a busy session but we all helped each other and the crosses looked great.
Thank you to Brigid and Tom Hogan and Ursula Murphy for helping us.
