Flahavans Cross country
Children in Primary 5,6 and 7 have had an opportunity to participate in Cross Country Training for over the last month, mainly on Tuesday and Thursdays. There have been between 50 and 60 children taking part which is fantastic.
Sixteen Primary 6 and 7 children travelled to Donard Park, Newcastle on Thursday morning to take part in the Flahavans Primary School Cross Country Races. These children performed extremely well in each of their races. The boys team finished second, running Tower View Primary School in Bangor a very close race for first place. The boys qualified for the N.Ireland Primary School Cross Country finals in the New Year. Well done to Michael Lynch who came 3rd in the first race followed by Conleth Lennon 10th, Maisie Clarke 46th and Isla Hughes 57th. There were over 100 in this race.
In the second race Alana Flynn finished a superb 8th followed by Danielle Cleland 27th, Georgia Sherrard 28th, Aimee Brennan 32nd, Lola Graham 33rd and Ada Farnan 34th. Well done girls!
In the last race, Paddy Sherrard led our crew home in an outstanding 5th, but on his heels was Ryan Thornton 6th and Loclann Steele 7th. Joseph Manley had a great run to finish 13th with Conor Fitzsimmons 19th and Eoin Smith 21st. Well done everyone!
All those children who have been to Cross-country training and were not able to participate in the Donard Park race will run in the Carnacaville Cross Country Championship on Tuesday 7th December. You will all have to run hard to earn your Christmas dinner later that day. Good luck and well done to everyone.
