A selection of P6 and P7 boys competed in this competition on Tuesday in Dundrum GAC. Jarlath Carey was a former Headmaster of Sacred Heart P.S. Dundrum and a legendary midfielder on the Down teams of 1960 and 1961, he picked up two All Ireland SFC titles. Many of his grandchildren are past pupils of St. Joseph's.
The boys put on a superb show of kicking and ball carrying skills in every match and only conceded 1 goal and 3 points across all matches. They came out of the group stages unbeaten and met our local rivals St. Mary's Aughlisnafinn in the final and emerged champions after a well contested match.
We would like to thank Martin Carey, Jarlath's son, Dundrum GAC and Sacred Heart Primary school for inviting us along to an extremely well run and enjoyable competition.
The team is pictured with Martin Carey, Mrs Carey and Fionn Kielty. Fionn is a past pupil who is a member of the U17 Down team that won the All Ireland Seamus Heaney Cup last Saturday.
