On Friday, we celebrated European Day of Languages 2022. This year, we focused on Gaeilge (the Irish language). In Reception and P1, the children learnt the poem ‘Lámh Lámh eile’ and learnt about the different body parts. In P2 and P3, the children learnt how to greet each other in Irish saying ‘cad é mar atá tú?’ and responding with different emotions. They then sang ‘Má tá tú sona sásta’ (If you’re happy and you know it). In P4 and P5, the children played ‘Deir Ó Grádaigh’ (Simon Says) and sang ‘An Hócaí Cócaí’ (The Hokey Cokey). In P6, the children learnt an Haka Gaelach (The Haka). Finally, in P7, the children played a few instructional games as Gaeilge.
