Let's Grow
On Wednesday 14th June we had a workshop delivered called 'Let's Grow' from Farming Carbon.
Stephaine began by discussing the importance of trees and the children had to then think of things trees are good for and describe a tree. The children had lots of excellent answers and enjoyed pretending to be a tree and being silly.
As part of the workshop, Stephaine introduced us to the five new trees and taught the children a little bit about each tree and their names. P3 met Owen the Oak, Brenda the Birch, Cecil the Scot's Pine, Hazel the Hazel and Ada the Alder.
Thank you so much to both Stephaine and Sarah from Farming Carbon for donating these trees to our school and we really look forward to planting them with you in November.
It was very special morning for Cian who was very excited to have his Mum join him in class when helping deliver the workshop. Primary 3 really had a lot of fun!
In the afternoon, the children made great links from the workshop on 'Trees' to their topic 'Sun Safety'. During Activity Based Learning they created their own trees from recycled goods at our craft table, as a tree is a great place to find some shade from the sun.
