N Ireland Primary Schools Cross Country Final.

4th Mar 2022

On Thursday 3rd of March the Carnacaville Boys' Cross Country Squad set off for Mallusk playing fields for The Finals of the Northern Ireland Primary Schools Cross Country.

The Boys had qualified for the final race as result of their success in the regional heat in Donard Park in early December. Joseph Manley, Conor Fitzsimmons Paddy Sherrard, Lochlann Steele, Michael Lynch, Conleth Lennon, Eoin Smyth and Ryan Thorntan have been giving up their break time on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the past four months to commit to training. Each boy has made tremendous progress even though they have nearly all suffered from covid recently. Out of the final twenty-four schools from all over Northern Ireland we finished a very respectable tenth. Paddy Sherrard had an outstanding run to finish 4th out of a field of 180 boys. The fourth best primary schools' cross country runner in the whole of Northern Ireland is certainly something to be very proud of.  Ryan Thorntan finished 12th. This is all the more amazing considering Ryan is in Primary six. Next home was Lochlann Steele closely followed by the other boys in the team. We have some great runners in our school and it was great to see this great hard working squad do so well in a prestigious final.
