P7 Computer Workshop
Just before Christmas the Primary 7 class visited St Malachy's High School, Castlewellan to participate in a Digital Schoolhouse Workshop. Mr O'Hare delivered a lesson on computing terminology and soon everyone was familiar with inputs, outputs, hardware and software. We then looked at the need for clear, concise and easily understood instructions to communicate how something should be done. Then the children used the ipads and the Scottie go app to develop some basic computing concepts related to a "real world" situation. The development of computational thinking, logical reasoning and evaluation skills is important in developing the next generation for the digital age. We will be developing and expanding these skills during the next few months back in our classroom. All of the children had a great time at Digital Schoolhouse workshop and enjoyed each of the activities.
