Primary 7 Big Trip to the Christmas Panto and more.

5th Dec 2018

Primary seven children boarded the bus with Mr Knight, Mr McCann and Miss Annett and set off early from school on Tuesday morning heading for Belfast.  The first stop was the Ulster Museum to visit Dippy the dinosaur who is on a visit from London's Natural History Museum. The iconic Diplodocus cast drew breaths of awe from the children as they took in the sheer size of it. The children were also able to see the only fossilised remains of dinosaurs ever found in Ireland and spend some time observing the rest of the exhibition. Then it was back onto the bus and down to the city centre to visit the Christmas Market. We spent a very entertaining hour visiting the stalls and sampling some of the international food stalls. The girls did an excellent job in finding and purchasing a lovely Christmas tree decoration to present to Miss O'Hare to mark her recent engagement. Lewis and Oisin displayed some excellent bartering skills and secured the  bargain of the day - two striking hats. After a quick visit to the city hall to see the inside of the great dome and the striking Christmas tree it was a skip across the road to the Ten Square Hotel courtesy of Cormac Cushnan for some hot chocolate and a chance to eat our lunch in some fine surroundings. Cormac Cushnan (James' dad) and Matthew Grainger (Phoebe and Joseph's dad) led us up to the rooftop bar for a fine aerial view of Belfast. We were also fortunate enough to get to visit  the luxurious  penthouse suite and onto its private balcony which overlooked the Christmas market. Then it was on to the Grand Opera House for the main event- "Jack and the Beanstalk."  There was lots of enthusiastic audience participation from the Carnacaville crew and we all had a wonderful time. "Oh yes we did," It was a great day out and a  very well deserved treat for our hard working P7s.
