Student Council Elections
It's that time of year again and we are re-electing our Student Council. We'd like to say a BIG thank-you to our outgoing Student Council who worked so hard all year long, represented our school fabulously on many different occasions and added so much to our student experience here in St. Joseph's.
This year's Student Council Nominees are as follows:
P.4
Eoghan Small, Pádraig Owens, Jack Gribben, Conor Adair and Aimee Brennan.
P.5
Michael Lynch, Joseph Manley, Danielle Cleland, Leah Roe and Ben Morgan.
P.6
Finley Grue, Dervla Durkin, Katie Cotton, Maura Gorman and Niamh Murphy.
P.7
Quinn Devlin, James Cushnan, Molly Lundy, Kadyn Toner and Anna Hillen.
Our Student Council nominees have had their first meeting last Friday when they met with local Cllr Laura Devlin. Laura spoke with the nominees about her role as a Councillor and what was expected of her. She gave the nominees some top tips on canvassing and how to write their speeches. The nominees had the opportunity to ask Laura a few questions about their campaigns. We'd like to thank Laura for her time, we really enjoyed it and learnt a lot.
Campaign week begins this Thursday, 19th September. So we’re looking forward to seeing lots of canvassing and campaign materials around the school. All nominees have received a list of rules to follow. P.4 - P.7 children should be starting to think about how they will vote.
Hustings (nominee speeches) are on Tuesday 24th September with Election Day on Thursday 26th September. Results will be announced on Friday 27th September at assembly.
Good luck to all our superb nominees!
