The Carnacaville Cross Country Championship
The turn out for cross country training among the Primary 5,6 and 7s has been amazing. We have had up to 60 children out in sometimes very cold days, giving up their break time to train. As a school we did very well at the Cross Country races against other Primary Schools in Donard Park but the cross country championship was for all the other athletes who did not get a chance to attend the Donard Park day.
It was a bright but frosty Friday morning but we were glad to get out after such a stormy week. It was a long trip around four and a bit laps of the field to make the mile distance, with Cian Jackson(P5) crossing the line first followed by Ollie Brannigan (P5) and Jack Gribben (P6). Well done to everyone who came out to run. There were some huge individual improvements given where we were after Halloween. It was wonderful to have some great support out to cheer everyone on and that made it a little easier. Well done to everyone. Running a mile is not easy especially when it is over rough ground.
