Water Safety in P3
P3 have been learning about how to enjoy and stay safe in or near water. We have been attending Downpatrick swimming pool each Friday since Easter. It has been so much fun and we have been getting more confident and improving our skills. We also visited Newcastle Lifeboat Station and have been learning all about the work of the crew and how lifeboats are used to rescue people in danger at sea. This year all the pupils in our school raised £970-00 for the RNLI and we presented this to the crew last Thursday. They were so delighted and will use this money to buy gear for the volunteers and maintain the lifeboat. Our P3 classmate Ben suggested we could interview his Grandad who happens to be a real coxswain! Ben and his sister Grace in P1 were proud to welcome their Grandad (Mr Francie Morgan) when he visited our classroom last week. Mr Morgan answered all our questions about his job as a coxswain. He also reminded us of the dangers of water and helped us understand the importance of staying safe in or near the water. We want everyone to have a safe and happy summer!
