The Eco-committee were delighted to show our new Fairtrade FairAware Award to the whole school at assembly. St Joseph's has received Fairtrade status for teaching children about where our food comes from, finding out what is meant by 'fairness' and evaluating how Fairtrade can work to address unfairness in supply chains. This fitted in with the Global Perspectives topic in the Eco-Schools programme. Children learn that, as global citizens, decisions we make can have an impact on people in other parts of the world. Every class took part in Fairtrade lessons, completed surveys and came along to a special Fairtrade Assembly performed by the Eco-committee.
