This term our topic is all about winter â„ï¸ We have had so much fun in Primary 2 learning all about the Polar Regions and the animals and people who live there!
We set up our role play ‘Winter Wonderland’ area with an igloo and all of the things we would need to go on a polar adventureðŸ§ðŸ—º The children have really enjoyed searching for polar animals, packing their bags with warm clothes and playing in the igloo😄
We also carried out a science experiment where we investigated the question, “Why do polar animals stay warm in icy water?”
To do this experiment we felt the icy water for ourselves and we all agreed it was VERY cold 🥶 Then placed our hands in a bag of lard which we used to replicate the layer of blubber that these polar animals have! We found that this layer of fat kept our hands nice and warm 🤲ðŸ»ðŸ˜ƒ
We have had so much fun with our winter topic so far and can’t wait to keep learning 🤞ðŸ¼ðŸ§
