P5 and the Fire Service

13th Oct 2023

On Friday, the P5 pupils had two special visitors from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Team. They taught the children all about keeping our homes safe from fires and what to do if we ever have a fire in the house.  The children had great fun with the firemen, Ollie even pointed out that he, ‘'loved when our class got to try on the equipment.’’ Have a look for yourselves and check out some of the important messages the children have learnt.

‘’Make sure you check the smoke alarm once a week.’’ - Phoebe.

‘’Don’t jump out the window in an emergency.’’ – Lewis

‘’I learned that it’s so important to keep the fire guard over your fire.’’ – Willow

‘’Make sure the door of the room you are in is shut if there is a fire. This will keep the fire out of the room for roughly an hour.’’ – Liam

‘’Make sure you turn off your appliances at night.’’ – Holly

‘’Don’t make hoax calls, because by the time the fire brigade finds out that there is no fire, someone else could be in danger.’’ – Darcy

‘’Keep your stairs tidy, in case you fall trying to get out of a house fire.’’ - Freya
