Today we had a visit from two firefighters from Newcastle Fire Station. Firefighters Peter and Gavin talked to the children about fire safety in the home, especially testing the smoke alarm once a week, also emphasising the dangers of the chip pan and leaving burning candles unattended. The 2 firefighters complemented the children on their listening, their questioning and their knowledge of fire safety. We had a great time trying on the firefighter’s gear. Fireman Gavin challenged Mr Knight to a race in putting on all the gear. Everyone waited very patiently on Mr Knight as he struggled to keep up with Gavin. Thankfully Mr Knight is not a firefighter!
