Winter

12th Jan 2016

Our new World Around Us topic for this half term is Winter. Our role-play corner is now part of the Arctic region...Brrrr! Some brave explorers made their way to the Arctic today, they recorded their journey in a journal. They saw an arctic fox and a snowy owl! They caught a glimpse of a baby polar bear but had to run away incase the daddy polar bear saw them - dangerous stuff! They kept themselves warm by the camp fire and decided to go out fishing for some food to cook on the fire. They arrived back to school safely and said that the next set of explorers should bring a big coat, hat, scarf and gloves as it was very cold!

We made snowflakes at the art table and enjoyed playing with our small world igloo. Some children created fantastic snowploughs with Lego. Others played in the water with Arctic animals. Finally, some children played with playdough - creating a hat for a snowman, putting some leaves on the bare trees.

Learning about winter is so much fun!!
